Haiti Earthquake, HAARP & The Red Cross!

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Did you know that one of Haiti’s primary exports is coffee? Interestingly enough, Paula E. Boggs, Executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of the Starbucks Coffee Company, is also on the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the American Red Cross.

Haitian leadership has been plagued over the years with scandals of kickbacks, embezzlement, and extortion. For example, the financial abuse of the Haitian-owned Telcom company, whose funds were imbezzled by then-president Aristide.

Corruption http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Bertrand_Aristide#Accusations_of_embezzlement_of_telecom_revenues

The International Telecom industry has been trying to get the Haitian Government to privatize the State-owned Telecom company for quite some time.

Now that they have been hit by this Giant Quake… The government may have no choice in the matter. Oddly Enough, Gail J. McGovern, the President/CEO of the American Red Cross, also holds a Top managing Position at AT&T.

Gail McGovern http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gail_J._McGovern

One Company that has graciously committed to help in the rebuilding efforts in Haiti is Caterpillar Inc. (a manufacturer of heavy construction machinery). Lucky for them, Steve Wunning Group President, Vice Chair of Audit and Risk Management Committee and member of the Compensation and Management Development Committee of the American Red Cross… he also happens to be the Director of Kennametal Inc. (a precision tool manufacturer)

The medicines that will be required by the Red Cross to help the suffering of the Haitian people will in all likelihood cost millions of dollars. Luckily, Merck has a viable AIDS treatment drug, “Isentress” (Raltegravir) that could help, in addition to being a HUGE supplier of other pharmaceuticals. Such an Odd coincidence, that Allan Goldberg, The Chair for the QRC Subcommittee and member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee for the American Red Cross… Also happens to be the Executive Director at Merck and Co. Inc.

Ann Kaplan (Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee; Vice Chair of the Compensation and Management Development Committee of the American Red Cross) serves on the Boards of Financial Guaranty Insurance Company and the Goldman Sachs Bank.

Suzanne Nora Johnson (Executive Committee; Chair of the Compensation and Management Development Committee of the American Red Cross) is an corporate lawyer and executive. Until 2007, she was Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs, Chairman of the Global Markets Institute, head of the firm’s Global Investment Research Division, and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Ever noticed the fact that Haiti is right next to Cuba, and within striking distance of Venezuela? Is it also a coincidence that New Orleans was retro fitted for major refining?

Of course we did this… it’s almost obvious.

What is difference between human resource management and human resource development?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Human resource management (HRM) is both an academic theory and a business practice that addresses the theoretical and practical techniques of managing a workforce.

Human resource development are more to Organization Development which is often confused with HRM. But both are in fact dealing with different things.

So far none of companies are successful in adopting OD in S’pore but every company has their HR department. To really draw a line between the two, you have to go into very much of further readings between the two and especially into OD.

How management is needed to resolve development issues and conflicts on coastal environments . HELP PLEASE?

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Been given this question for college coursework totally slumped :| Gotta be in for tomorrow. Help please guys would be appreciated

It depends on who’s coast. Consider that in countries such as the US we have a beautiful coastline, one that is overprotected. Off the coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico, the ruling powers have decided long ago to restrict oil drilling to where it is nearly impossible to access our oil. However, the ruling officials in Mexico are way more relaxed and have allowed China drilling companies to come in and access that same oil. Our coast lines are at an equal risk, yet we will purchase this said oil at an inflated price. The Coasts have always been independent if we started allowing managers of them I’m sure some new wars would begin, would the fodder they leave behind leave us a cleaner product than what we have today? People constantly complain about the waste poured into our oceans on a yearly basis, saying it needs to be controlled. How many billions of tons of oil, steel and human life was poured into our oceans during WWII?

The formula’s Cinnulin PF cinnamon is a patented, water-soluble blend containing standardized amounts of bioactive polyphenol polymers.
