Which path should I go on after college: Peace Corps or Management Consulting?

Yeah my main goal is to get into Harvard Business School or any top business school so that I can get a job in private equity…my plan is to go to a 4-year college, either go 2 the peace corps or get a management consulting job, and then apply to business school?…which would u pick?

Its good that you are making a plan early but be prepared for your plan to change.

I in some ways had the same goals as you did. but it is likely that your plans will change while in school.

First you will need to experience more of what you could be doing as a management consulting.
Many of them offer the experience to travel and gain experience but you will not have time for a life in most cases. also their rotation time (the time people stay with the company) is less than 2 years on average for recent college grads.

The peace corps in another option that is not for everyone. (Option i have taken) Many people that planned to use the peace corps as a jumping off point to benefit themselves only from what i have heard either didn’t get invited to join or they left early. but if you really are interested in the Peace Corps i suggest that you go through with it. Most people say that once you come back your entire mindset will change as in other countries people only work because its necessary but they do it at their leisure but here we work because its been programed into us as children after school you need to work either that or you have old money.

Also there are programs that combine a masters degree with Peace Corps Volunteer work which you may want to look into.
